Job Description

West Hills Family Care, of Praxis Health, would like to invite reliable and experienced Advanced Clinical Associate with outstanding people skills to join our team. 

 

The Advanced Clinical Associate is the highest level of MA, short of having the supervisor designation. They will maintain a consistent record of work performance proficiency at all prior levels (MA 1, MA 2 & MA 3). They demonstrate leadership and influence through proficient independent performance and supports the entire team in developing knowledge to better support patients. This candidate will be a positive role model to others and has influence on change within the clinic.

 

Work in collaboration with the healthcare team to assist physicians and providers in the delivery of exceptional patient care.

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills, be highly organized, and detail oriented
  • Experience with electronic medical records is a plus

Essential Job Functions

1. Proficiently completes all MA essential job functions.

2. Attends work regularly and on time.
3. Maintains a reputation for effective interpersonal relations with team, supervisors, and patients.
4. Rooms patients within 4-6 minutes and ensures their comfort and satisfaction while making sure that provider is timely with starting patient visits.
5. Effectively communicates with the care team to ensure the flow of the patient care is successful.
6. Captures and accurately documents full vitals (Blood pressure, temperature, weight, height, O2, pulse)
7. Reviews medications/allergies – verifies patient is taking all medications listed – state medication name, dosage, and frequency. Thoroughly updates the medication list with any reconciliation needed. Verify all allergies listed are accurate and no new allergies.
8. Performs Intake Function – press intake button, verify you are in-taking today’s date.
9. Captures patient’s chief complaint and enters into electronic health records (EHR) system.
10. Provides applicable informational forms to patients as result of chart preparation routine.
11. Assists with patient discharge – provides after visit summary.
12. Completes room turnover process (including, but not limited to cleaning-re-stocking).
13. Stocks examination rooms/notifies supply personnel when items are low.
14. Completes “tasks” and phone calls daily with guidance from supervisor 
15. Performs EKG, injections, vaccines under supervision.

16. Assists provider with minor medical procedures. (Sterile setup, take-down, auto-claving)
17. Completes chart prep based upon provider schedules, including but not limited to pulling Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), getting consents ready.
18. Independently performs EKG, injections, vaccines.
19. Makes increasingly more complex phone calls that require skilled communication and decision-making skills.

20. Independently performs EKGs, Injections, Vaccines, Ear irrigations, CLIA Waived tests (UA, Strep, Flu, COVID, HCG), PKU, Hemocue, lab draws and teaches others the skills to perform these tasks.
21. Independently performs controlled medication tasks.
22. Trains MAs.
23. Completes special projects that help support the overall improvement of Praxis Health.

24. Professionally represents the MA perspective in committee assignments (BOWG, Safety Committee, etc).
25. Provides training and development to MA and other designated members of clinic team as needed.
26. Exercises delegated authority to delegate task management.
27. Pulls emergent records if needed to treat for visit only. (task to team box if not emergent)
28. Orders specimens, documents, and charges.
29. Complete tasks as directed by clinic and company leadership.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Medical Assisting diploma from an accredited vocational institution, a community college program in medical assisting.

Experience: 

  • No less than 2+ years’ experience as an MA
  • Experience with Electrocardiogram (EKG), taking vital signs, venipuncture, capillary and giving injections.

                                   

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess a current BLS certification or obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Current health records with the appropriate immunization to work in the health care field (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis).

General Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.

This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
