Job Description

Praxis Health Advanced Primary Care, is looking for an experienced  Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team!The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of licensed providers and/or clinic leadership to support daily clinical operations. This MA plays a vital role in enhancing patient care and clinic flow. Responsibilities include patient rooming, vitals, documentation, direct patient communication, and supporting clinical workflows including assisting with referrals, care coordination, and other patient care support activities as needed.

About the Role

 

Patient Care Support 

  • Greet and room patients, collect and record vitals and health history. 
  • Document patient information accurately in the EMR. 
  • Assist with procedures and exams as directed by the provider. 
  • Perform point-of-care testing and administer medications/immunizations as directed by a physician 
  • Provide clear patient instructions per provider guidance. 
  • Support patient education and engagement during visits. 
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and sterilization of the work environment. 

Administrative Support 

  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for care. 
  • Maintain supply inventory and request replenishments as needed. 
  • Handle patient phone calls, messages, and tasks in coordination with provider teams. 
  • Support referrals and prior authorizations as part of care delivery. 
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and secure medical records. 

Team Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with front office and clinical teams to optimize patient flow. 
  • Participate in huddles and communicate care updates to the care team. 
  • Follow standing orders and protocols to promote efficiency and safety. 

Compliance and Standards 

  • Comply with all regulatory requirements including infection control, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and documentation standards. 
  • Participate in training, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

✅ MA certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA), preferred

Experience in a primary care or outpatient setting, preferred

✅ Phlebotomy experience, preferred

✅ Ability to multi-task and provide support to multiple providers

✅ Strong customer service skills and attention to detail

✅ BLS certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire)

✅ Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred

General Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, bend and twist as needed.  Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day.
  • Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.

OSHA Category
This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
